To many of us, Jay Glazer is simply just a face on the television. However, he’s quietly one of the most interesting people in the football realm.
When he’s not dropping behind-the-scenes scoops on air, Glazer’s acting on popular shows like Ballers and The League. His unique walk of life is a fascinating story in itself, though the subplots have made for some interesting tales. Being a versatile individual has created special moments with prominent NFL figures, namely legendary Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety/current San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch.
We heard Glazer share an absurd and hilarious anecdote about Lynch during an interview with FanSided. It was borderline unbelievable and will certainly grab Buccaneers fans' attention.
NFL insider Jay Glazer pulls back the curtain on iconic John Lynch Buccaneers Pro Bowl story
One of the several topics Glazer discussed was how to fix the Pro Bowl (which almost feels like a lost cause at this point). He said the league's glorified annual exhibition should return to Hawaii, describing those days as the "favorite time" of his career. For instance, an awesome memory with Lynch and other star players that may have involved a few too many cocktails still follows him today.
"We were out there one year at the Pro Bowl, and we tried to break John Lynch’s Mai Tai record. He had 46 Mai Tai’s in one sitting ... It was me, Ronde Barber, Tiki Barber, Steve Hutchinson ... me and Hutch got to like 12, and then our girls were like, 'You're not doing this anymore.' Ronde got to 31."Fox Sports' Jay Glazer on John Lynch
For those who don't know what a mai tai is, it's an alcoholic beverage made with rum, curaçao, orgeat, lime and fruit juice. The fact that Lynch downed 46 of them and ostensibly came away with what Glazer described as a "terrible" morning after is wild and lucky. Please don't try this at home, folks.
It stands to reason that Lynch's record will remain unbeaten for the foreseeable future. The human body shouldn't be able to consume that amount of spirit, sugar and fluids in a single night. Nevertheless, as the Krewe knows, he earned the right to celebrate with Glazer and their friends by being one of the greatest defensive backs ever
