The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted quarterback Kyle Trask in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Florida product was obviously not going to start right away, as Tom Brady had just led the team to a Super Bowl victory, but he was in line to be the heir to the throne.

Unfortunately, he did not develop at the rate that the front office or coaching staff thought he would. So, when Brady retired, the Bucs went out to sign Baker Mayfield to be their starter instead, subjecting Trask to a backup role once again.

Trask was solid in the Bucs' first preseason game, but then he put together a really rough performance last week. With veteran Teddy Bridgewater now in the fold in Tampa Bay, Trask is expendable, and the Bucs could look to trade him to these three teams in need of a solid backup.

3 trade destinations for Bucs quarterback Kyle Trask

1. Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders added Geno Smith this offseason to be their surefire starter, but depth behind him is a major question mark. At his age, Las Vegas also needs to start thinking about a succession plan, and Trask could be exactly that.

He does not have the in-game experience that Aidan O'Connell has, but he is more talented than him or rookie sixth-rounder Cam Miller. Bucs fans also have to wonder if Jason Licht's former right-hand man, John Spytek, would strike a favorable deal for Tampa Bay now that he is in charge in Las Vegas.

2. New England Patriots

New England has their quarterback of the future in Drake Maye, so this destination may not be as appealing for Trask. However, the Patriots may want him because they have just two quarterbacks on the roster, and one of them is Joshua Dobbs.

Dobbs did not exactly impress during the preseason, so perhaps New England would send a late-round pick to establish a long-term backup for Maye, much like the Cincinnati Bengals have with Jake Browning and Joe Burrow.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars

Trask would obviously be buried behind Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville, but he'd have little competition becoming the backup. Nick Mullens, John Wolford and rookie Seth Henigan make up the rest of the room, which is not too impressive.

With a new regime in Jacksonville and Lawrence coming off an injury-prone season, perhaps the former Clemson Tiger is not as secure as most think. Trask could have fun playing in an offense with a young, offensive-minded head coach, and he wouldn't have to move too far.
