The NFL season is less than a month away, which means teams are desperate to fill the remaining holes on their rosters.
One player gaining buzz is edge rusher Haason Reddick, who spent the 2025 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Reddick has drawn the interest of teams that are in the market for a pass rusher. On behalf of the Buccaneers — buyer beware!
Haason Reddick was a major disappointment for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers signed Reddick to a one-year, $14 million deal last offseason hoping he’d return to his elite form and help breathe life into Tampa Bay’s dormant pass rush.
Until a 2024 season muddied by a contract dispute and subsequent hold-in that carried into the season, Reddick was one of the NFL’s elite pass rushers. From 2020-23, he recorded at least 11 sacks in every season.
Tampa Bay thought that was the guy they were getting when they pursued Reddick in free agency. But the veteran recorded just 2.5 sacks last season and apparently wasn’t a locker room favorite either. After the Buccaneers’ worst loss of the season, a 29-28 collapse against the Atlanta Falcons, team captains Vita Vea and Antoine Winfield Jr. were seen chewing Reddick out on the way into the tunnel for reasons that remain unknown.

It was one of Jason Licht’s biggest free agency busts in recent memory, but you can’t blame the front office for taking a swing considering Reddick’s once-elite résumé and the Buccaneers’ years-long pass rush woes. Tampa Bay has since corrected that mistake, letting Reddick walk in free agency before signing Al-Quadin Muhammad after an 11-sack season with the Detroit Lions and drafting Rueben Bain Jr.
Now, it appears another team could be on the verge of making the same mistake the Buccaneers did. Any organization that thinks Reddick is going to be a key contributor for their defense in 2026 is setting themselves up for disappointment.
Reddick was once one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers, and nobody can take that away from him. But last year in Tampa Bay proved he’s fallen from that status. He no longer looks like a starting-caliber player, and he’s barely effective enough to be a rotational guy.
Heck, the Bucs could’ve gotten better production out of now-retired Joe Tryon-Soyinka for a fraction of the cost!

Reddick spent 2024 with the New York Jets, where he overlapped with then-DC and later interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich.
Something worth monitoring.
Wherever Reddick’s NFL journey takes him next, it’s clear that his best days are behind him. Bucs fans can only hope he ends up with the rival Falcons, who are desperate for a pass rusher after Jalon Walker’s season-ending injury and James Pearce Jr.'s eight-game suspension.
