Carl Nassib, EDGE

Another "aging" veteran who might have something left in the tank is Carl Nassib. He was great with the Raiders and twice proved to be a wonderful player to have in a defensive rotation for the Buccaneers. He's on the wrong side of 30, but he hasn't completely slowed down yet.

PFF graded Nassib's 2022 campaign with the Bucs as one of the best of his career, and while he's not going to light anyone fire he can be a useful part of a team's defensive depth.

One team that sticks out is the Baltimore Ravens. Those guys love their defensive players and especially love veterans who have been around the game for a while. Nassib won't be an expensive addition, which is key for Baltimore since the team has spent so much on Lamar Jackson and Odell Beckham this offseason. Nassib feels like a Harbaugh guy who can come in and be both a contributor on the field and a leader in the locker room.

The same can be said for the New York Giants, who could use some depth alongside Kayvon Thibodeaux. There's also the Wink Martindale factor, as everything that can be said about why Nassib fits with the Ravens are relevant reasons for the Giants since Wink is the architect of both defenses.

Nassib coming back to the Bucs could be an option, too. Money is an issue but depending on how low he's willing to come on his price Todd Bowles would likely welcome him back to help with depth and to teach the rookie class what he knows.

Potential Fits:

  • New York Giants
  • Baltimore Ravens
  • Chicago Bears
