The Tampa Bay Buccaneers blew out the Washington Commanders on Sunday and Baker Mayfield had himself a great game. After signing a three-year deal worth $100 million, Mayfield displayed exactly why the organization wanted to keep him in a Bucs uniform, throwing for 289 yards and four touchdowns in his first game of the 2024 campaign.

Two of Mayfield's touchdowns went to the ageless wonder Mike Evans and while micced up for NFL Films, Mayfield noted that if Evans isn't double-covered, he's throwing to him every time. The Bucs quarterback also had a dynamite quote while on the mic.

"Talk about trying to drift on rainbow road with no computer drive!" Mayfield exclaimed in the video and this, of course, is a reference to the famous Mario Kart level "Rainbow Road". Drifting in the game can help you turn the corners with ease and then shoot off ahead of your opponents. It really is just that easy for Mayfield, or at least it was against the Commanders.

Baker Mayfield has incredible sense of humor during games

Mayfield and the Bucs won the game 37 to 20 and truthfully, even that score makes the game look a lot closer than it was. The Buccaneers dominated the Commanders and Mayfield had one of his best games since joining the Bucs a season ago. Even with how well he performed, Mayfield praised the offensive line and gave them credit for his great game, which is just another reason it's so easy to root for Mayfield.

It's been a lot of fun to watch Mayfield go from a guy the Browns, Panthers, and Rams didn't want and trending toward bust status to now being a star and likable guy for the Buccaneers. The move to sign him last year didn't go over the smoothest but clearly the front office saw something in Mayfield and now the rest of us have gotten to witness that greatness as well.

Hopefully Mayfield can drop a green shell or red shell reference into his next micced up segment.
