Buccaneers 53 man roster cut tracker 2023: Live updates and analysis
By Josh Hill
We've reached the end of the preseason, but there's still work to be done. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have until 4 pm ET on Tuesday to cut the roster down to 53 players which means some tough decisions will be made over the next 48 hours.
Some of the biggest questions about the final roster have already been answered. Baker Mayfield was named the Bucs starting quarterback ahead of Saturday's preseason finale, meaning Kyle Trask will begin the season as his backup.
What to do with third-string quarterback John Wolford is the biggest question at the position, which is a good spot for Bucs coaches to be in.
Elsewhere on the depth chart, the kicking competition was one of the first training camp battles to determine a winner. Chase McLaughlin beat out Rodrigo Blankenship, who was a late entry into the race after earning a roster spot following an impressive minicamp workout.
The good times didn't last long, though, as Blankenship was released following a performance against the Jets last Saturday that saw him miss two of his three kicks.
It's more than just top of the depth chart spots that were up for grabs. The Bucs brought 18 undrafted free agents to training camp, many of whom turned out to be so impressive that they'll be in serious consideration for a final roster.
Running back Sean Tucker and wide receiver Rakim Jarrett were camp standouts, with the former possiby having played his way into the RB2 role. Safety Christian Izien has already been assured a roster spot, being named the Bucs starting nickel corner on Sunday morning.
For as many of those guys who impressed, there will be tough cuts made across the board as the Bucs trim the roster down. We'll be keeping track of every roster cut the team makes and breaking down what it means as we approach the deadline to get everything finalized.
Bucs 53 man roster: Tampa Bay Bucs roster cuts (Updated August 29th)
Here's a running list of every roster cut the Buccaneers made, divided up by the day they were announced.
Keep in mind that not every player released will end up somewhere else. Many of the Bucs cuts could turn into practice squad players, especially if the team wants to keep a guy around and in the building. John Wolford, for example, would be a guy the Bucs might release but add to the practice squad if he were to clear waivers.
Note: The most recently announced cuts will appear at the top of each list.

There haven't been a ton of surprises so far, although there could be an arguement made for John Molchon. The Bucs have already lost Ryan Jensen for the year, which raises questions about the offensive line depth before the season even begins.
Molchon was on the bubble, to be clear, but logic suggested he might sneak his way onto the roster to pad the position. That being said, he'll almost certainly be back in Tampa Bay as part of the practice squad he clears waivers.
Another notable cut is cornerback Anthony Chesley. There were some who thought he might be able to make the roster as the final cornerback on the depth chart, but it appears that will be someone else. The decision likely means that Zyon McCollum's job is safe and could open the door for rookie Josh Hayes to make the final roster.
