The Tampa Bay Buccaneers already have arguably the league's best wide receiver duo with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Now, third-round pick Jalen McMillan joins them.
McMillan's skill set complements the other Bucs wide receivers and should translate to instant success at the NFL level. He is already a smooth route-runner with the ability to get open. McMillan can line up in the slot and become Baker Mayfield's best friend with easy completions in the middle of the field.
It's too early to draw conclusions and make big predictions for the season ahead, but McMillan has made an impressive start in a Bucs uniform.
Jalen McMillan makes impressive start at Buccaneers rookie minicamp
Tampa Bay held its rookie minicamp this weekend, giving the new additions to the roster an opportunity to get some on-field reps, meet their new teammates and coaches, and learn what the expectations are every time they practice.
According to ESPN's Jenna Laine, McMillan made an impressive start to minicamp, noting that the football "just kept finding him."
It's not surprising. That's exactly what we expected from McMillan. He gets open quickly, knows how to separate, and looks like a veteran when finding the soft spots in zone coverage. Why did the ball keep finding him? Because he's always open.
Get used to hearing that phrase throughout the regular season.
Evans and Godwin receive plenty of attention from opposing defenses, playing perfectly into McMillan's hands. He will likely play most of his snaps in the slot but can be moved around to find favorable matchups.
McMillan has the ideal speed, agility, and athleticism to play in the slot. He has a Relative Athletic Score of 8.67 out of 10 after running an impressive 4.47-second 40-yard dash and putting up solid agility-testing numbers.
His college teammate, Rome Odunze, understandably receives most of the attention after going ninth overall to the Chicago Bears, but McMillan is going to surprise a lot of people this season.
