The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won three straight NFC South titles but they haven't been the favorite to win the division in 2024. No, no, that honor has gone to the Atlanta Falcons who have been incredibly overhyped entering the regular season.
Over the offseason, the Falcons decided to swing for the fences and sign Kirk Cousins. They inked the long-time Washington and Vikings quarterback to a four-year deal worth $180 million and it was a risky move considering he's entering his age 36 season and is coming off an Achilles injury.
Well, so far, it doesn't look to be a good investment for Atlanta. The Falcons lost to the Steelers and Cousins did not play well at all. He threw for 155 yards while tossing one touchdown and two interceptions.
Bucs fans will love how bad Kirk Cousins has been in Atlanta
Bucs fans couldn't help but laugh at the Falcons not only making this move in the offseason but tampering to ensure that Cousins came to Atlanta. Imagine tampering for a 36-year-old quarterback coming off an Achilles injury who wasn't able to win when it mattered the most. Well, you don't have to imagine it because the Falcons actually did it.
The Steelers went into Atlanta, beat up on Cousins and the Falcons, and didn't even score an offensive touchdown. That's perfect material for Bucs fans to laugh at throughout the week and while the season is still very young, right now, it doesn't look like Cousins is going to turn the Falcons into the contenders everyone thought they'd be.
You have to love the talking heads hyping up a team that has proven time and time again that they're not worthy of that hype.
