Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans watched last year as the Carolina Panthers traded a king's ransom to the Chicago Bears so they could move up to the number one overall pick and take Alabama's Bryce Young. Bucs fans watched with glee as Young and the Panthers struggled mightily in 2023 and were so bad that they ended up with the worst record and the number one pick.

Unfortunately for Carolina, they had traded their first-rounder to Chicago so they didn't even get to reap the benefits of being the worst team in the league. They hitched their wagon to Young and so far, it doesn't look to be a very bright decision.

The Crimson Tide signal-caller threw for 2,877 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 16 starts during his rookie year and was sacked a whopping 62 times. Young's team and coaching staff did him no favors but Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report already thinks that the young quarterback's time with the Panthers could be coming to an end.

Gagnon points out that the Cardinals bailed on former first-round pick Josh Rosen after just one year and the 49ers did something similar with Trey Lance, bailing on the third overall pick two years after trading a ton of draft capital to move up and select him. These two instances led Gagnon to wonder if Carolina could follow a similar path with Young if he doesn't show improvements in 2024.

"Young was the league's lowest-rated qualified passer in 2023. If something similar happens again, the Panthers again finish last and the team finds itself holding a primo draft pick, fiery owner David Tepper could pull the plug on Young in favor of the next shiny thing."

Bucs fans will enjoy watching Panthers crash and burn

In two games against the Bucs, Young struggled, throwing for just 272 yards and one interception combined. He was sacked seven times in the two match-ups, further proving that his offensive line did him zero favors. The Bucs won both of those games and shut out Carolina in the season finale, winning 9-0.

For the Panthers to have given up so much to draft Young and have the top pick become one of the biggest draft busts in recent memory would be very entertaining to Bucs fans. As the Bucs continue to win the NFC South year after year, the Panthers continue to flounder and it's really fun to watch.
