We’ve reached the end of the preseason, which means it’s time for the annual August game against the Miami Dolphins.
That’s how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers preseason schedule is going to round out, as tonight will be the final time we see the team until the regular season kicks off in a few weeks. It will also be the last chance for a handful of hopefuls who are trying to make their case for a final roster spot.
Most of the roster seems to be set, but the fringes are where the Bucs managed to find some success last year. Guys like Christian Izien, K.J. Britt, and Yaya Diaby stepping up were one of the reasons the Bucs had such a phenomenal year and ouverperformed according to preseason expectations, and once again the team has a few guys who look like they could be impact contributors.
We will see those guys tonight, but we’re also going to get our first look at Tampa Bay’s starters as well. Baker Mayfield is expected to play at least a drive in the finale and it wouldn’t be surprising to see other guys get a tune up before games start counting.
What channel is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game on tonight? (August 23rd)
Whether or not the starters play — or play a lot — Bucs fans have plenty of reasons to watch tonight. Bucky Irving, Graham Barton, and Jalen McMillan headline a rookie class that is already making a name for itself, but they won’t be the only ones worth keeping an eye on.
After the Bucs released Randy Gregory this week, Jose Ramirez has a clear path to a roster spot. He almost made the cut last year before spending most of the season on Tampa Ba’s practice squad. He was a stud last Saturday against Jacksonville, and has laid the foundation for a serious case to make the roster outright this year.
Ramirez turning in another strong outing might seal the deal.
