6 players Bucs should add to practice squad after finalizing 53 man roster
By Josh Hill
Jose Ramirez, LB
A major storyline this offseason for the Bucs was how many young players the team brought to training camp. It's something that developed into a bit of a triumph as 12 rookies made the roster with six of them being undrafted free agents who the team signed after the draft in April.
Only one rookie from the Bucs draft class didn't make the cut, and Jose Ramirez was the odd man out.
Ramirez not making the final roster is another case of unforunate circumstance for the rookie. He was trying to make the roster at one of the deepest and most talented groups, and lost out because his competition was guys like YaYa Diaby, Shaq Barrett, and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. Even the bottom of the outside linebacker depth chart is pretty stacked, as Cam Gill an undrafted rookie Markee Watts were the last guys to make it.
It was just too much competition for an inexperienced player like Ramirez, and a hamstring injury in the preseason opener that limited him to just five snaps held him back as well. All indications are that coaches like what he offers, and he profiles as a prime candidate to land on the Bucs practice squad.
