Eight months ago the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' season came to an end at Ford Field, which is where the team will be this Sunday afternoon.

The goal remains the same, although the stakes are slightly different.

Last time the Bucs were in Detroit they were trying to get to the NFC Championship Game, and nearly got there. Unlike the matchup between the two teams earlier in the year, things were close but the Bucs simply came up short.

Short is how they'll arrive in Detroit this time around, as the team is without some key players for the game. Calijah Kancey, Antoine Winfield Jr., and Luke Goedeke are all out, and the team is likely going to rely on an offensive shootout to earn a win.

That's very possible, though, given how great things looked in Week 1. The Bucs cooked Washington's defense for the most points it has scored since 2022, with the credit going to Baker Mayfield and Liam Coen. Tampa Bay will need more of that on Sunday, as they're going to be truly tested by one of the NFC's best teams.

Who are the announcers for Buccaneers vs. Lions today?

Just like last week, FOX is sending the duo of Kevin Kugler and Daryl Johnston out to cover the Buccaneers game. Most of this has to do with the way the schedule stacked up, as CBS is the network with a doubleheader meaning FOX will only broadcast regional coverage this Sunday.

For Bucs fans, that means getting the game at 1 pm ET and then having the late window slate blacked out.

  • Date: Sunday, September 15, 2024
  • Start Time: 1 pm ET
  • Location: Ford Field | Detroit, MI
  • TV Channel: FOX
  • Announcers: Kevin Kugler, Daryl Johnston
  • Live Stream: NFL Sunday Ticket | Fubo
  • Radio: WXTB 97.9 FM | More Radio Affiliates

There will be a double helping of football on CBS, which is more important for fans who want to catch something after the Bucs game. Locally fans will see Chiefs-Bengals, which is what a majority of the country will be seeing except for markets in Denver and Pittsburgh.

Who are the referees for Buccaneers vs. Lions today?

Clay Martin and his officiating crew will be in Detroit to referee the game this afternoon. It's the 11th time he'll have been involved in calling a Bucs game, with Tampa Bay having a 5-5 record in that span. What's perhaps most notable is that this will be the second of the last three games the Bucs played against Detroit that Martin will be officiating.

He and his crew were down in Tampa for the Week 6 game last year, one that the Bucs lost but without much blame being pointed at the officials.
