The Tampa Bay Buccaneers stunned the NFL last season, winning the NFC South and a playoff game as home underdogs against the Philadelphia Eagles.

This season, the Bucs will look to solidify itself as a playoff contender with Baker Mayfield under center, but oddsmakers aren’t so sure, keeping a conservative stance on Tampa Bay heading into this season, projecting the team to battle for a .500 record.

The Bucs went 9-8 in 2023 behind Comeback Player of the Year candidate Mayfield, far surpassing expectations of an expected rebuild.

However, oddsmakers appear concerned that the team won’t be able to follow it up with the Falcons upgrading at quarterback by trading for Kirk Cousins, the Saints expected to be in the playoff picture and the Panthers hiring Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales to help last year’s No. 1 pick Bryce Young.

The NFC South is expected to be competitive, but oddsmakers are prepared for the Bucs to take a step back in 2024 with a win total that is less than the Falcons and Saints.

Here’s the team’s projected win total from FanDuel Sportsbook.
