Davante Adams ending up with Saints could be trouble for the Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers appear to be one of the few teams not in the running to trade for Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams. This isn't much of a surprise considering they have Mike Evans and Chris Godwin but what is surprising is that Adams is eyeing the New Orleans Saints as a potential landing spot.

Not only are the Saints in salary cap hell but there's no way Adams can think that team is ready to compete for a Super Bowl this season. Sure, in their first two games, they blew out the opposition but those teams were the Panthers (a trainwreck) and the Cowboys (a defensive trainwreck) and since then, they've narrowly lost to the Eagles and Falcons, coughing up the lead late in the game, as is tradition in the Big Easy.

So, again, why would Adams want to go to New Orleans?

Bucs fans hope Davante Adams doesn't go to Saints

The one obvious reason for why Adams might be interested in heading to Louisiana is that Derek Carr, his old college quarterback, is the quarterback of the Saints. The Raiders traded for Adams in 2022 because Carr was still the quarterback in Las Vegas at the time but he was benched at the end of the year and then moved on to New Orleans in the offseason.

Adams has remained in Sin City despite Carr's departure and now people think he could rejoin his old college quarterback in New Orleans or head to New York to reunite with Aaron Rodgers, who he caught passes from in Green Bay for eight years. Bucs fans would prefer that Adams pick any team outside the NFC South because A) It means they don't have to deal with playing him and B) It'd make those division rivals sad.

If the Saints did trade for Adams, it'd be tough for them to pull off considering their lack of funds but there's no doubt that it'd improve their offense. Carr already has Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed to throw to and Alvin Kamara is still putting together a solid season on the ground so throwing Adams into that mix would not be fun.

Hopefully, Adams chooses an AFC team to join and it's one that the Buccaneers don't have to worry about playing. Just keep him out of New Orleans please. The Saints don't need anymore offensive firepower, especially since these two teams haven't played yet.
