Eagles confirm what Buccaneers fans knew about Devin White all along

It's not going great so far.

When Devin White's career is over, let's all agree to not acknowledge his time in Philadelphia. Because OOOF, reader. Oooof.

Or perhaps we should acknowledge his time with the Eagles because it stand both in stark contrast with how good we've seen White be and how validated Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans feel after he flamed the team on his way out the door.

Things have gone from bad to worse and then to somehow even worse than that. As the NFL's preeminent thought leaders in the "join us if your old team won't pay you but you still have a bunch of name recognition" space, it's not surprising that the Eagles ended up with White after his time in Tampa came to an end.

What's more surprising is how poorly things have gone for White since. And maybe that's actually not surprising at all, given how things with the Bucs ended.

Devin White continues to be a total disaster for the Eagles

Since leaving Tampa Bay, White can't seem to keep the Buccaneers out of his mouth. In his first press conference with the Eagles, he called them out, then took shots at the Bucs in another interview, and was still popping off about his former team as recently as the preseason.

Perhaps if he spent more time focusing on his game and not talking trash he can't back up, White might be in a better spot with the Eagles. Philly's defense coordinator didn't mince words when he dismissed White as merely a backup in his scheme.

Nakobe Dean was always going to have the upper hand on a starting job – he was, you know, drafted by the team and is three years younger – but I kinda feel like Fangio didn't have to add "even when he's healthy" part? Like, yeah Vic, we know.

Also, Devin White is only 26! When looking up how old Dean was – because obviously, he'd start over White on account of being so much younger, or so I thought – it was made known to me that White is actually only three years older, which makes all of this so much bleaker. He was making All-Pro teams and Pro Bowls as a young 20-something linebacker as recently as two years ago, and now he's the 'old' backup to a guy who, notably, has not actually had a good season yet.

Tough look for old (but not really!) friend Devin White. Maybe things will go better on his next 'join us if your team won't pay you but you still have a bunch of name recognition,' squad, the Arizona Cardinals. You know it's happening. Dread it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same.
