The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the NFC South, and now they’re looking to pay that off with a home playoff win on Monday night against the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles won just one of their final six games, limping into the playoffs. Plus, the team is dealing with injuries to quarterback Jalen Hurts and star receiver A.J. Brown.
While Tampa Bay didn’t exactly dominate in the regular season, the team could be in line for an upset win this week as a home underdog in the latest odds.
Using those odds, I am attempting to predict the final score of this game – something that isn’t easy to do – but it could be lucrative if I can guess correctly.
Let’s dive into the odds and prediction for this Wild Card Weekend matchup:
Eagles vs. Buccaneers odds, spread and total
Buccaneers score prediction
Tampa Bay may be able to pull off the upset in this game against a Philly team that hasn't looked like a playoff or Super Bowl contender since late November.
The Eagles have been exposed defensively, allowing the second most passing yards and passing touchdowns in the NFL this season. That’s going to be an issue against a Bucs team that has a solid passing attack – led by Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
The Buccaneers didn’t have a dominant season, but they were elite as underdogs – posting a league best record of 8-3 against the spread in 11 games as a dog.
Meanwhile, Philly was just 3-3-1 ATS as a road favorite.
Given the Eagle’s defensive struggles, I think Tampa Bay can get into the low 20s on offense in this game – even though the team struggled the last few weeks scoring the ball.
On the Eagles side, can we trust this banged up offense? If Hurts is going to struggle throwing, I don’t see how the Eagles have a huge day on offense. I’m going to take the Bucs to pull off a shocking upset on Wild Card Weekend.
Final score prediction: Buccaneers 24, Eagles 20
