NFL Draft Day 2 Grades: Buccaneers absolutely nailed Friday with three huge picks
Jalen McMillan - 3rd Round, Pick 92 - WR - Washington
While Rome Odunze and Ja'Lynn Polk stole the headlines this past season racking up yards and touchdowns from Michael Penix Jr, McMillan was battling injuries for the first half of the season.
However, when he came back he reminded the world why he was the leading alpha in the Huskies wide receiver room in 2022.
At 6'1 and 197 pounds with elite level speed, McMillan projects to be a smooth operator out of the slot for the Bucs with the occasional option to be out wide. His route running is wonderfully fluid and he could build an instant connection with Baker Mayfield on the underneath routes.
He's a bit in the Chris Godwin role as he does a lot of damage in the middle of the field, but he does not play with the same physicality.
He's very good at using his body to set up defenders and is smart enough to find pockets of space in zone coverage and has the size to be a mismatch in the slot.
With Mike Evans, Godwin and Trey Palmer already on the roster, McMillan won't be asked to dominate from Day 1. However, a second half rookie surge could be on the cards once he gets comfortable with the offense and NFL defenses.
