Football is officially back, but Green Bay Packers fans might be wishing that their season didn't start until Sunday. Friday night the Packers lost both their Week 1 game to Philadelphia and quarterback Jordan Love to a leg injury.

It's still unclear just how injured Love is, as he's set to undergo an MRI this weekend, but it's not looking good. He left the game with just seconds left after he was hit low and writhed on the ground in pain before being helped off the field by trainers.

Love's knee appeared to buckle and pop, which could indicate anything from an MCL sprain to an ACL tear. It's too early to tell but contingency plans are starting to be put in place if the worst-case scenario unfolds.

That's where, surprisingly, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter the picture.

Tampa Bay might not be the first place fans think when they hear about a Jordan Love injury, but it could be that the Bucs help the Packers out of an unexpected quarterback bind.

Packers might try to steal Michael Pratt back from Buccaneers practice squad

When final rosters were set in late-August, one of the more peculiar moves involved the Packers waiving rookie quarterback Michael Pratt. Most assumed that the Tulane star would at least get a practice squad spot given how much upside he has and how poor Sean Clifford looked in the preseason.

That didn't happen, though, and the Bucs swooped in to scoop Pratt up when the Packers exposed him to waivers. Now, the shoe could end up being on the other foot after Love's injury.

If Love is out for the season, Malik Willis becomes the team's starter but there are a number of different pieces the Packers could put on the board. One involves signing Ryan Tannehill, another could be that they poach Pratt back from Tampa Bay as depth behind an uncertain situation.

Willis is not a proven starter, and the Titans didn't take long to bump him down the depth chart after drafting him. If the Packers sign Tannehill and partially run back Tennessee's quarterback room from a year ago, bringing back Pratt is less important since there's more buffer on the roster.

If the plan is to role with Willis, then the Packers would be wise to take Pratt back and help pad a quarterback room that could end up bouncing in any direction.

One catch would be that Green Bay must sign Pratt to its 53-man roster if it signs him away from Tampa Bay's practice squad. That might be the hangup that keeps this all from happening, but it could create an alternate scenario where Kyle Trask enters the equation as an option.

All of this seems like a bit of a long shot, but the Packers are suddenly in a desperate situation and all options should be considered. The Bucs are just a phone call away from providing some potential relief.
