Let’s be honest, this isn’t really up for much of a debate.
There’s an argument to be made that Doug Williams deserves consideration with Brady as the greatest quarterback in Bucs history but there reaches a point where that might be more of a courtesy than an actual debate.
Brady is the greatest quarterback of all-time, full stop. Not only that, but he chose to make the Bucs part of his football legacy. He could have gone anywhere when he was a free agent in 2020 but chose to come here and absolutely delivered. Not only did he help bring another Super Bowl to Tampa Bay but he pulled the team out of the wilderness it had gotten lost in over the last decade and brought a respectability to the franchise that hadn’t existed since the glory days of the late 90s and early 2000s.
He didn’t merely grace the Bucs with his presence, Brady became a Buccaneers franchise great during his time in Tampa Bay. He shattered franchise records, set new league records, and very nearly won an MVP during his time with the team. Buccaneers football wasn’t just good again, it was exciting and the dread of waking up on Sundays and bracing for what would happen faded away and was replaced with God’s honest joy.
That’s what Brady’s time in Tampa Bay meant and that’s the lasting legacy he’ll have. Accolades and stats are one thing — and that Super Bowl win over the Chiefs is certainly more than just a sweetener — but the way he made fans in Tampa Bay feel during his time here is something that is unique to him and is perhaps the greatest thing he ever did during his time with the team.
