Buccaneers massively disrespected in opening odds to win NFC South

Breaking down the Buccaneers' chance to win the NFC South in 2024.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers exceeded expectations in 2023 by not only winning the NFC South but winning a playoff game against the defending NFC champions.

Now, we look ahead to the 2024 season. The NFC South is largely going to look the same. It may not be the best division in football, but that means that any team could realistically win it. Can the Bucs go back-to-back? You may be surprised by their betting odds to do exactly that.

Oddsmakers have little faith in Bucs to repeat

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set at +240 to win the NFC South again in 2024, which is an implied probability of 29.41%. If you were the bet $100 on them to repeat as division winners you'd profit $240 if they're able to achieve the feat.

The Buccaneers are the only division winners from 2023 who aren't betting favorites to win the division again in 2024. Instead, it's the Atlanta Falcons, who finished 7-10, who are betting favorites at +140. The Falcons still have to address their quarterback issue, but based on their other weapons, it is easy to envision them improving in 2024.

Still, the Buccaneers have recently re-signed Mike Evans and have proven they have the offense to get the job done. Now, if they can re-sign Baker Mayfield, they should be once again considered top contenders in the division.

In 2023, the Bucs tied the Saints for the best division record at 4-2. With a division as competitive as the NFC South is, winning the divisional games become even more important and Tampa Bay has shown they can beat the three other teams with consistency.
