2. Baker Mayfield, Bucs
Our beloved Bucs quarterback checks in at no. 2 on the list after coming away with a hard-fought victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. It was an upset win that really shouldn't have happened. But, the Vikings continued to allow the Bucs to stay in the game and, in the end, Mayfield came up with enough key plays to will Tampa Bay to victory.
Baker ended his day going 21-for-34 for 173 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Mayfield didn't turn the ball over once and only took a single sack. It was a relatively clean, smart game for the former no. 1 overall pick.
One of the things that stuck out about Baker's game on Sunday was the fact that he took risks by using his legs. On a couple of occasions, he was able to secure first downs in key situations. One of those runs came on a gritty, physical finish where Mayfield proved not to be denied the first down. It was a fun, exciting performance from the new Bucs quarterback.
Now, the Bucs go into Week 2 at 1-0 and host the Bears, who are coming off a deflating opening performance against Green Bay.
