Predicting NFC South quarterback performances in Week 2
By Ryan Heckman
Baker Mayfield led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to an upset victory in Week 1 over last year's NFC North Champions, and this week he'll take on another NFC North team in the Chicago Bears.
When the Bucs host the Bears this weekend, they'll be looking to go 2-0 on the year and do so against a Bears team already searching for answers.
How will Mayfield fair against a motivated Bears defense? What about the rest of the division? Let's take a stab at predicting how each NFC South quarterback will fare this weekend.
Bryce Young, Panthers
In his first-ever NFL start, Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young certainly displayed some growing pains. He was the number one pick this year for a reason, but he's got a ways to go. His two interceptions that were taken by Jessie Bates came on similar throws and reads, but Young has a good enough head on his shoulders to learn from those mistakes.
In Week 2, the Panthers take on the Saints on Monday night. It'll be Young's first taste of prime time in the NFL and going up against a pretty formidable defense in New Orleans. This could be a tough week, overall, for Young, who threw for 146 yards, one touchdown and two picks in Week 1.
The Panthers could also have a hard time running the ball against a Saints defense that held Derrick Henry to 63 yards a week ago.
Prediction for Young: 22-for-38 passing, 214 yards, one touchdown, one interception
