Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster cuts tracker: Live updates before cut day

Unlike this time last season, the pressure is on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to live up to and exceed preseason expectations.

That’s the way everyone in Tampa Bay wants it, too.

After losing Tom Brady last offseason, the Bucs were expected to be one of the worst teams in the league and tank for a top draft pick. Instead, the team signed Baker Mayfield and imprinted his gritty identity onto itself and rode it all the way to the NFC Divisional Round.

Rather than spiral in the first post-Brady year, Tampa Bay won a third-straight division title and laid the foundation for this new chapter in the franchise’s journey. That’s why this training camp is so important; the Bucs need to ensure they don’t miss a beat and continue to build on the success of last season.

Once again that will likely come down to the fringes of the roster and which young player will step up. Last year guys like Christian Izien and Sean Tucker made a name for themselves at training camp, with the former earning a starting role on the final roster. Other rookies like Trey Palmer, Yaya Diaby, and Calijah Kancey took steps during the regular season toward becoming important pieces of the future.

Jason Licht and the front office seem to be running those same vibes back again this year. A stellar rookie class is itching to make an impact, as are the handful of intriguing UDFAs the Bucs brought in.

All eyes will be on who makes the final roster and who doesn’t, as the Buccaneers’ margin for error has significantly slimmed this season.
