After a long offseason, football is finally back.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers return to action on Friday night, opening the preseason at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s more than just the return of Bucs football, it’s the beginning of the road toward getting some serious answers we’ve been pondering for months.

Friday night will be out first look at the Buccaneers in the post-Tom Brady era, one that still doesn’t have a clear successor under center. The quarterback question isn’t the only one hanging around the Bucs, though, as players all across the roster will be making the case for why they deserve to be a part of this new chapter for the franchise.

Of course, the main thing anyone is going to care about is the quarterback situation, and rightfully so. We are going to get our first tangible look at both Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask tonight which is more then enough reason to tune in, even for the casual fan looking to kill some time on a Friday night.

Who is the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

This is the big questions surrounding the Buccaneers this offseason. Both Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask appear to be pretty neck-and-neck in the battle to see who will earn the starting quarterback role, which is surprising in of itself.

Mayfield was brought aboard back in March to presumably be the Bucs starting quarterback, but Trask has held his own so far through training camp. What once looked like an obvious decision has been made incredibly difficult, one that will require live action in preseason games to help determine a winner.

It still looks like Mayfield, based on seniority, is the front runner to win the starting role but Todd Bowles is going to be giving equal time to each quarterback to try and see what they can do.

If there’s one downside to the preseason, it’s that fans outside of the Tampa viewing area might find it difficult to tune in. Even for folks around the area, catching the game is slightly different than what we’re used to on Sundays.

All Bucs preseason games are going to be broadcast locally on WFLA, with some game being simulcast nationally on NFL Network.
