Remember when Antonio Brown had that in-game meltdown during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 2021 season? Do you also remember when Terrell Owens claimed at the time that he was the right receiver to fill Brown's shoes?

Well, T.O. has reminded us all of that second moment and went as far as pointing the finger at Tom Brady for why he wasn't brought in to help the Buccaneers vie for another Super Bowl title.

"“Tom Brady ignored me,” Owens said. “The year that AB went crazy . . . they just needed somebody to fill some holes with AB leaving at the receiver position. I reached out to him through Randy and some other people, just to come in and play third down and red zone situations. This dude ignored me. It just shows you the lack of respect there, but then when they get in front of you they want to act like they respect you.”"

T.O. claims Tom Brady refused to let him join the Bucs

In case you were wondering, Owens was 48 at the time this incident occurred and he hadn't played a regular-season snap in the NFL since 2010 with the Bengals. He tried to make the Seahawks' roster in 2012 but was cut three weeks into training camp because he wasn't the same player anymore. I can't imagine why the Bucs wouldn't have wanted him on their team! (Sarcasm, of course)

Hey, you can't blame T.O. for trying to get onto a team that had Super Bowl potential. He had been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame three years prior so he already had that going for him, so why not try to add a Super Bowl ring to his list of accomplishments as well?

As we know, the Bucs did not bring in Owens and didn't win the Super Bowl that season. Maybe bringing him in would have been what put them over the top but I'm going to lean in favor of no there. Owens was clearly washed up and would not have been the kind of weapon that Brady needed to help the Bucs make another Super Bowl run that season.
