If someone had fallen asleep in August and missed the entire NFL season, they'd be pretty surprised to learn just how incredible the Tampa Bay Buccaneers season was.

Things were far from perfect, but they weren't hardly as bad as experts were predicting. Tampa Bay was expected to tank for a top draft pick and hope that a chance at drafting Caleb Williams would pull them out of a post-Tom Brady funk. Instead, the Bucs decided to find their future franchise quarterback in free agency and win the NFC South for a third straight season.

Baker Mayfield was the perfect quarterback for the Buccaneers this season and the team found a way to embrace their scrappiness to navigate choppy waters and come out on the other end better than anyone expected. Winning the NFC South seemed like a pipe dream six months ago but now it's a reality.

The work is hardly over, though.

While the Bucs finished the season winning five of their last six games, the offense has taken a step back. Tampa Bay didn't score a touchdown in Sunday's win over Carolina and Tristan Wirfs let the team know about it in the middle of celebrating a division title.

Tristan Wirfs calls out Buccaneers offense in powerful postgame speech

After the game cameras captured Wirfs rallying the team during the postgame huddle, calling out the offense while praising the defense for carrying the team to a division title.

It wasn't the sort of finger pointing you'd expect from a team that suffered through the sort of struggles the Bucs have, rather it was leadership that proves the team is headed in the right direction.

"I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble, I'm super proud of you guys," Wirfs said. "We haven't scored in eight quarters, offense. We have to be better going into the playoffs. We can celebrate, and be excited about this, third-straight division title, but we have to put points on the board. I love you guys, let's go!"

Just watch, it's incredible stuff:

There's a reason the Bucs didn't quit when that seemed to be the easiest path forward. Most teams that encounter the type of turbulence Tampa Bay did would have packed it in and given up, and at times it felt like that might happen.

Instead, the team persevered and powered through, and the progress was evident over this last stretch of games. Not many teams go from a 1-6 slump to a four-game winning streak, and the ones that do tend to be near the top of the league.

That's where Tampa Bay is, as regardless of what happened during the lowest points of the season the team is headed to the playoffs as a Top 4 seed. As Todd Bowles said after the game, all you have to do is get in to be dangerous and the leadership Wirfs leadership is a big part of why nobody should count the Bucs out.
