Football is finally back, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-revenge tour (Avenging the Revenge?) will begin in the late window of Sunday's opening week slate of games.

The Bucs will be hosting the Washington Commanders, and with them their rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. It will be yet another matchup over the last calendar year in which Tampa Bay is going up against a rookie, but it's the first time since Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans that they're the team a quarterback is debuting against.

That game didn't exactly go well for the Bucs, and is one of the reasons some fans are a bit nervous about how Tampa Bay has played against rookie quarterbacks over the last few years. Even with a gnarly game against C.J. Stroud last season, the Bucs have actually done realtively well against rookies under center, owning a 10-5 against them since Todd Bowles arrived in 2019.

It's not just Daniels who is making his debut, as Dan Quinn will be returning to Tampa Bay as a head coach for the first time since he was there with the Atlanta Falcons. He knows the Bucs well, but a lot of time has passed since they last squared off and everyone is in a different place.

Buccaneers vs. Commanders TV channel

Last year the Bucs got their season of unexpected success off to a hot start with an upset win in Minnesota. This time around they're home favorites, and there's a chance we see them hit the ground running a lot harder than they did against the Vikings.

Baker Mayfield is back as the Bucs' $100 million quarterback, and while there's a new offensive coordinator in town he has a year of continuity under his belt with the offense. Mike Evans also feasts on bad secondaries, which the Commanders have. Washington ranked 30th according to PFF, and Evans averaged 92 yards and 10 targets per game against bottom-10 defenses last year.

There's also an improved offensive line that should help open up the run game and help both Rachaad White abd Bucky Irving get the season off on the right foot.

Here's everything you need to know to catch the game this afternoon:
