Instead, Baker Mayfield imprinted his revived identity and grit onto the team and helped carry them out into the post-Tom Brady era better than anyone expected. It was success that led to the team giving him $100 million to become the next franchise quarterback and it’s why there’s so much hype in Tampa about what this season could bring.

The journey to running things back starts on Sunday afternoon against the Washington Commanders. Jayden Daniels is making his rookie debut and Dan Quinn returns to Tampa Bay as a head coach for the first time since he was there with the Atlanta Falcons so many years ago.

It’s going to be a long season, but one the Bucs can very much get off on the right foot.
