Winners and losers from the first week of Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp

After a week of training camp, here are a few things, both good and bad, that have stood out.

Loser: Baker's deep ball

This is not a new development, but Baker Mayfield does not have the greatest deep ball reputation in the league.

There were several moments last year where it felt like points were left on the field or big plays not made because he could not pinpoint the downfield throws that presented themselves.

Week 1 of training camp has done little to assuage those fears as he has missed more long throws once again. He overshot Trey Palmer twice, which is hard to do for the burner, and he couldn't connect with rookie Jalen McMillan in 11v11.

This is something I want to see in Week 2 and hopefully it can be attributed to a rust or lack of connection over the first few days and not a sign of things to come.

Loser: Graham Barton's snapping

The Duke product was largely seen as a steal in the draft as he is expected to anchor the middle of the Tampa Bay offensive line for the next decade.

However, he has had poor snaps with both Kyle Trask and Mayfield to this point. I don' t think this is an issue that will persist, as the pairs are still learning what they like and don't like.

This is what Week 1 of camp is for, to iron out those chemistry issues and while it might look rough now, I expect the rookie to bounce back strong going forward.
