You know that expression about how if something seems too good to be true, it probably is? When it comes to hypothetical Tampa Bay Buccaneers draft decisions, it's nonsense. Throw all logic out the window and roll with the phantom punches -- a few that we hope might actually exist and end up landing.

A proposed trade on NFL.com has fallen right into the lap of Buccaneers GM Jason Licht, and it's the stuff that draft lore is made of. It is the stuff of legends. It honestly feels a little irresponsible that the NFL's official website is suggesting it. Be cool, NFL.com.
Chad Reuter, a draft analyst, dropped "Six win-win first-round trades teams should make," on Wednesday morning, and if you scroll through just enough boring ideas and pop-up ads, it'll absolutely be worth your while.
Proposed Packers-Buccanners trade is an absolute no-brainer for Jason Licht
"Tampa Bay could stay put and take one of those pass-rush options. But it'd be hard for the Bucs to pass up an opportunity to convert one of their three Day 3 selections into a Day 2 pick, especially considering they'd likely still have a shot at one of those edge defenders or a new star for the secondary at Pick 23. General manager Jason Licht could then use his improved draft capital to move up in Round 2, as he did twice in the past three drafts (Luke Goedeke in 2022; Cody Mauch in 2023)."
Trading down four spots in order to turn a fifth-rounder into a third-rounder, which also happens to be another Top-100 pick? Are teams even allowed to do that? Isn't there some sort of competitive advantage clause in the CBA that forbids this? I think a good lawyer could actually make the argument that this is legitimate, prosecutable robbery.
Which, of course, means that Licht absolutely needs to do it. I truly don't even care who he picks with his new 3rd round pick – some things just have to be done on principle, and this is one of them. Enjoy your new, shiny 5th round pick, Green Bay.
I'm sure the WR1 they'll be looking for will still be there at [smugly checks notes again even though I already know the number] the 157th pick in the Draft.
