Week 4 got off to a rough start for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with things going from bad to worse in mere minutes.
Special teams remains an unmitigated dumpster fire disaster, with the Eagles blocked the first punt of the game and returning it for the first touchdown of the afternoon. That was followed a drive later by a Dallas Goedert touchdown catch that put Tampa Bay in an early 14-0 hole against the Super Bowl champs.
That wasn't the only hole that was dug in the first half.
After it appeared the Eagles picked Baker Mayfield off to further suck energy out of the Bucs' sails, Quinyon Mitchell did a little too much celebrating and paid the price. He got into Baker's face -- which Mayfield unsurprisingly embraced -- but quickly found himself going toe-to-toe with Tristan Wirfs.

Rather than back down, Mitchell kept going and decided picking a fight with the All-Pro tackle was a good idea. It objectively was not.
There are good ideas, there are ideas in the heat of the moment, and then there's marching down a path that seems like a bad idea but deciding no to turn back. The latter is what Mitchell did, but the fact that he wasn't afraid to go after Mayfield or Wirfs gives some insight into how little the Bucs are feared at the moment.
It's difficult to be afraid of a team that gets in its own way as often as Tampa Bay does.
A flag wasn't thrown on Mitchell for the confrontation, but there was a personal foul penalty on Jalyx Hunt that came after the interception was ruled incomplete. So not only did the Bucs keep the ball, but they got an extra 15 yards out of it as well.
Unfortunately, all the Bucs got out of it was a field goal as the offense once again misfired -- or failed to fire at all -- getting into the redzone. It was a truly disastrous start to the game, one where all of Tampa Bay's worst tendencies reared their ugly head to hold the team back.
Getting a lucky break on the interception was nice, but Mitchell getting into the face of Tampa Bay's key players and being completely unfazed is not a great sign that the Bucs are a team that is feared.
