Saints trading away Marshon Lattimore is the end of an era for the Buccaneers
By Josh Hill
While Mike Evans decided to remain with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency, he'll have some free real estate in Maryland for at least the rest of the season.
At the trade deadline on Tuesday the New Orleans Saints waved the white flag and traded Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders, ending his tenure on the bayou and closing the book on one of the league's most heated rivalries.
Twice a year Evans and Lattimore would meet and there were almost always fireworks. It's a feud that started back in 2017 and has since produced two separate suspensions and over $100,000 in fines from the NFL. It's also one that unceremoniously comes to an end with Lattimore now heading out of the NFC South.

Adding literal injury to the insult of having this feud end like a TV show that got cancelled before it could air its finale, all of this happens with Evans out of Tampa Bay's lineup. He injured his hamstring two weeks ago in a loss to the Ravens, but was in line to be healthy when the Saints come to Tampa Bay later this season.
That matchup is still happening, but it won't feature Lattimore on the other side.
Washington is on Tampa Bay's schedule, but they already played back in Week 1. If the Buccaneers end up in first place -- or the Commanders fall to second in the NFC East -- then we could see Lattimore and Evans matchup next year but that would mean require the former to re-sign in Washington.
All things come to an end, and the Evans-Lattimore feud as we knew it is no different. There are still chances that they matchup, or perhaps become teammates, but the days of them getting into it like we best remember them doing are officially in the past.
Cue the graduation song:
