The Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut their rosters down to 53 players on Tuesday, and in the process waived some pretty big names. Trey Palmer was one of them, and Tampa Bay watched their now-former wide receiver get claimed by the New Orleans Saints.
But, the Buccaneers didn't lose everybody to another team. Rookie safety Shilo Sanders, who was one of Tampa Bay's main roster cuts, didn't get claimed by another team. Now, the Buccaneers have the chance to bring Sanders back as a member of their practice squad.
Buccaneers can now reunite with Shilo Sanders after rookie clears waivers
Sanders was one of the most notable undrafted rookies available, given that he played for Colorado for his dad and head coach Deion Sanders, with his brother Shedeur playing quarterback. The Buccaneers signed Shilo rather quickly, giving him a chance to compete for a roster spot as a safety.
During the preseason, Sanders did have struggles with missed tackles, but he showcased his ability to hit the ball-carrier hard. Look no further than his hit on Tennessee Titans quarterback Brandon Allen.

Sure, he wasn't the perfect player, but he shows promise as a developmental defensive back who can rotate in and out of games. Tampa Bay was a good landing spot for Sanders, considering Todd Bowles knows how to build dominant defenses, and that starts with development.
However, it's unknown if the Buccaneers will opt to bring Sanders back. Sanders was notably ejected in the team's preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills, where he punched tight end Zach Davidson. Bowles called out Sanders after the game, calling his actions "inexcusable." Less than a day later, Sanders was waived by the team.
Sanders is now free to sign with any team he so chooses now that waivers are done with. It remains to be seen if the Buccaneers will give Sanders another chance.
