While the talk of the 2025 NFL Draft was Shedeur Sanders and how he went from being projected as a first-round pick to plummeting to the fifth round, his brother, Shilo Sanders, went undrafted. Shilo ended up joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent and should be able to earn a spot on the roster if he plays well this summer.
Shilo Sanders posted a video of him dancing on Twitch after the news first broke but hasn't said anything publically about his draft experience and where he ended up. Well, he's broken that silence, stating on Instagram (with a picture of himself in a Bucs hat), "Thank You God for everything ! & Thank You [Buccaneers Instagram handle] for believing in me"
Buccaneers fans just got their first real taste of Shilo Sanders
This is a pretty surprising message coming from someone in the Sanders family simply because Deion Sanders, who is the father of Shilo and Shedeur, is a very outspoken individual. What's though to be part of the reason Shedeur slid so far is that teams were turned off by Deion being such a big presence and not wanting to have to deal with him.
Shilo doesn't play as sexy of a position so it's no wonder he sort of got lost in the shuffle here. That being said, he absolutely has a chance to make the Buccaneers' roster. Tampa doesn't have great depth at safety so if Sanders plays well in training camp and preseason, he can stick on the 53-man roster. If nothing else, he could potentially be a special teams contributor for the team.
It's good to see Shilo's humble message after joining Tampa Bay and hopefully, having a Sanders kid on the roster doesn't become too much of a distraction. There's no need for the media to be asking questions about a third-string safety (though they still might) but as long as he's playing well, that's what counts here.
