After losing to the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, and Los Angeles Rams in a true three game gauntlet of Super Bowl contenders spanning both conferences, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face a get right opponent on Sunday in Week 13 of the 2025 NFL season in the Arizona Cardinals.
But while the Cardinals are one of the worst teams in the NFL on paper, journey man gun slinger Jacoby Brissett can be dangerous, especially for a Buccaneers defense that got 34 dropped on them by Matthew Stafford and the Rams offense in prime time just last week.
Plus, the Bucs offense has serious questions to answer. Bucky Irving will only just be returning from an injury that cost him a month, and he wasn't playing particularly well prior to the injury with a below average 3.3 yards per carry. Mike Evans is still out. And Baker Mayfield will be starting under center for Tampa Bay despite just recently injuring his left shoulder in a physically and spiritually painful defeat to the Rams.

Even so, nothing less than a victory will be expected or accepted by Bucs fans, as Tampa Bay need to be as close to spotless as possible in order to sew up the NFC South division and a playoff spot in the process. Missing out on the postesason would be disastrous, and Todd Bowles losing to his former employers would cause what should alread be a tenuous employment with the Bucs to be called into even more serious questions by supporters of the team.
Although the Bucs vs. Cardinals is hardly the most marquee matchup on Sunday's slate of games, as an early kickoff with Daryl Johnston and Kevin Kugler on the call, there is plenty of intrigue for Bucs fans to sink their teeth into coming into the game.
How healthy is Mayfield? How much will the Bucs be able to throw the ball? Will the Bucs pass rush and secondary bounce back? And just how will the running backs split the carries? Is Bucky Irving going to get closer to his full workload when the NFC South battles start up?
