Buccaneers’ head coach Dirk Koetter has been harping on needing fans to give them a home field advantage this Sunday. The only problem is, they haven’t earned one yet.

There’s no way around it; NFL games are expensive. The tickets, parking, concessions. You’re talking about close to a thousand dollars for a family of four to attend a game. In recent history, you’re talking about that much money for Buccaneers fans to go and watch their team lose.

Since the firing of Jon Gruden, the Buccaneers have won 17 home games. It’s unreasonable to expect people to spend that kind of money when they are far more likely to walk away furious and disappointed than excited and happy with their decision. They could drive an hour up the road and spend that kind of money to take their kids to Disney World or Universal Studios and be guaranteed a great return on their investment. With the Bucs? Not so much.

Dirk Koetter made the comment that he doesn’t want to see any Raiders jerseys, that he wants to see more Bucs jerseys at Ray Jay, but understands that it’s a two way street and the Bucs aren’t holding up their end;

More from Bucs News

"“Every place is different. Every place you play on the road is different, as far as how hard it is to play there and how hard it is to hear there. We’re not fooling anybody that some teams travel a lot better than others. Players notice, coaches notice. That’s the truth. And I’m 1,000% aware that the more you win, the better it gets. But with that said, do we have a home field advantage? That’s our job to create it.Go take a picture of any of them. Denver, Chicago, Giants. Take a picture, see what you get. We’ve got to take care of the stuff on the field, but some places are harder to play than others.”"

Well, Dirk…you and the Buccaneers have a golden opportunity here to hold up your end. Three straight at home against the Raiders, prime time against the Falcons, then against the Bears. You have John Lynch‘s Ring of Honor induction on that Thursday night game. Yet, you’re 0-2 at home as a head coach.

Win Sunday.

Then win Thursday.

Then win again.

Keep doing it. And if you do, I assure you, that lower bowl will be packed with Buccaneers jerseys rather than the visiting team’s. This community has been burned for the better part of a decade by shelling out cash for a pathetic product in return. They want to see what they’d be pouring their money into before they make the commitment.
