On Tuesday, Madden NFL 16 was released. For football fans, it’s the time of the year where they can play as their favorite team whenever they want and try out the newest additions to the roster. For the players, specifically the ones who didn’t crack the top five spots at their position, it’s their first time looking at (and getting disappointment with) their rating.

For a couple of weeks now, we have known about the rating of three players: Jameis Winston, Mike Evans and Gerald McCoy. Now, let’s take a look at how the rest of the roster stacks up, rating-wise, courtesy of Buccaneers.com:

"DT Gerald McCoy – 95LB Lavonte David – 91WR Mike Evans – 87CB Alterraun Verner – 87WR Vincent Jackson – 86G Logan Mankins – 86DT Henry Melton – 83QB Jameis Winston – 81LB Danny Lansanah – 79DT Clinton McDonald – 79C Evan Smith – 79LB Bruce Carter- 78RB Doug Martin – 78CB Sterling Moore – 78S Major Wright – 78CB Johnthan Banks – 77OT Patrick Omameh – 77TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins – 76S Chris Conte – 75CB Mike Jenkins – 75DE George Johnson – 75FB Jorvorskie Lane – 75OT Kevin Pamphile – 75RB Bobby Rainey – 75DE Jacquies Smith – 75TE Luke Stocker – 74TE Tim Wright – 74S D.J. After looking through the ratings, here are a couple immediate takeaways:

  • Mike Evans thought he should’ve been given, at least, a 90 rating after what he did last season. I agree.
  • Both starting defensive ends, Jacquies Smith and George Johnson, were given a 75 rating. It’s probably going to tough to generate a solid pass rush on a consistent basis. Wow. Look at Madden imitating real life!
  • Madden was absolutely BRUTAL on the Bucs’ rookie offensive linemen, Ali Marpet and Donovan Smith. With ratings of 70 and 67, respectively, it’s going to be tough to play with Jameis and expect these two guys to keep the pocket clean for an extended period of time.
  • Kwon Alexander is a lot better than his 63 rating. A lot better. We need an update immediately.
