It has been a brawl under the Tampa sun to make the end of the Bucs’ backfield depth chart. We know the big names, Doug Martin and Charles Sims, but behind them is a wide open battle. We have Mike James, the aforementioned Storm Johnson and Peyton Barber fighting for room to backup the big guys.
The trouble is that nobody has run well. The offensive line is not coming together a quickly as we hoped, so the team is only averaging 2.9 yards per carry on the ground. Barber has been up and down, leading the team with 40 yards on 11 carries in week two, but toting the rock three times for -1 yard in the opener. If he is going to stay, Barber is going to have to turn heads on Friday night.
