Many Buccaneers fans are hoping and praying that Dalvin Cook will be the man the Bucs take at nineteen. He appears he may just fall into their lap.

It’s become an annual thing, as obnoxious as it may be at times. The Buccaneers’ season ends and the Florida State contingent goes on and on and on about how the Bucs have to draft “X” player from FSU.

Yeah, we get it… Seminole fans think their players are always far superior than any other in college football.

This year’s “must draft” is running back Dalvin Cook. Now, Cook is an explosive player and I wouldn’t be upset if the Bucs took him at nineteen. Not at all. However, there is no need to waste picks to move up and get him. There are enough holes on this team and enough depth at running back that the Bucs can just take the best player available at their spot.

According to Matt Miller of Bleacher Report, scouts aren’t nearly as high on Cook as FSU fans are (surprise surprise);

Now, this may add fuel to the fire of the anti-Cook crowd as scouts are saying a lot of the same things fans have said regarding Cook and why they don’t want the Bucs to draft him.

Our Zach Sauers did a draft profile on Cook outlining why he is a great fit for the Bucs and Dirk Koetter’s offense – to which I agree. Again, Cook is a dynamic player with big play potential any time he touches the ball – something many of you know I’ve been screaming for the Bucs to add to this roster.

As for the crowd that feels the draft is Dalvin-or-Bust, this may be good news. If scouts are this concerned, Cook very well could see a drop on draft day and fall into the Buccaneers’ laps at nineteen – something that seemed darn near impossible come April.

The draft is very much a living organism and things change by the day. By time the draft rolls around in a little over 100 days, Cook may be viewed as the top running back choice. This is something worth keeping an eye on in the coming months.
