Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston told the Tampa Bay Times how much he wants free agent wide receiver DeSean Jackson to join him in Tampa.
We’ve covered the DeSean Jackson news over the past 48 hours and more is starting to come out regarding the high profile free agent. Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reported Wednesday that Jameis Winston really wants Jackson to join the Buccaneers this off-season. Winston spoke to Auman following an appearance at Melrose Elementary about the receiver;
"“I’ve met him before, and we want DeSean. You better believe we want DeSean here. I think he would be a great asset to our team. Me growing up an Eagles fan, seeing what he did for the Eagles and back in his Cal days and even with the Redskins, I would love to have DeSean.”"
Winston would go on to speak about his role when it comes to free agency and players potentially choosing the Bucs as their destination;

Jameis being this outspoken is a very, very good thing for those that want Jackson to sign here. I spoke about my feelings on the issue in a column Wednesday and seeing Jameis come out and say what he did was more than enough to get me a little excited about the possibility of Jackson landing in Tampa.
There’s a lot to be said for a quarterback being outspoken regarding a big time weapon he wants on the team. It says to the organization that the franchise quarterback wants and needs this weapon and will use him properly. It tells the other player that his services will be welcomed and utilized to its fullest potential. It says that the quarterback knows that player is a missing piece to a team on the verge of competing in the postseason.
It’s going to be impossible for DeSean to not catch wind of this and one would think it may lead to conversations between the two. Jameis is going into full blown recruit mode to help get this team over the hump and into the playoffs.
