Captain Fear, the mascot of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is gearing up for a mascot charity event to help the New Hope for Kids charity.

Captain Fear is getting in the charitable spirit, as the Buccaneers tend to do. Between the Cut For A Cure or Jameis Winston’s kids camp or Vincent Jackson’s Jackson In Action 83 Foundation, the Bucs are always finding ways to be involved in the community.

This time, it’s the mascot’s turn as the Mascot Games will take place June 23 and 24 at the Amway Center in Orlando. The Mascot Games are basically like the old “American Gladiators” television show, only instead of world class athletes, you have mascots representing teams from the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, ECHL, and NCAA.

New Hope For Kids is a worthy charity focusing on supporting children and families suffering the loss of a loved one as well as granting wishes to children with life threatening illnesses in and around Central Florida.

The three day event is presented by WAWA and tickets for the general public start at just $12. General admission day is June 24 and tickets can be found here.

Other notable mascots from the area include Thunderbug (Tampa Bay Lightning), Sebastian (University of Miami), Knightro (University of Central Florida), Stuff the Magic Dragon (Orlando Magic), Stanley C. Panther (Florida Panthers), Rocky the Bull (University of South Florida), Jaxson De Ville (Jacksonville Jaguars), as well as many other very notable and famous mascots from around the sports world.

We reached out to Captain Fear to talk to him about his upcoming venture and what he’s looking forward to the most;

"“The organization and the purpose behind the event holds a place close to my heart, so to be invited back every year and have the Bucs support the Captain’s participation is real special.It’s kinda like a high school reunion where I’m able to catch up with a bunch of my buddies from around the other leagues as well as a few guys from around the NFL. It gives us the opportunity to share ideas on game entertainment and fan interaction among other things.I live for the joust. I tend to rely on my sword but somehow those huge Q-Tip things get the upper hand. Someday…someday I will prevail.”"

We take pride in our teams, in the Tampa Bay area, and all the charitable work we see the Buccaneers, Bolts, and Rays do. How active in the community they are, especially when it comes to helping young children. It truly brings the fans and the community a sense of joy when we witness these athletes – or mascots as the case may be – take the time to give back because they have the platform to do so.
