On the latest episode of Walking The Plank, David Harrison and I were joined by What The Buc’s Derek Fournier to discuss Doug Martin and the Buccaneers offensive line.

In the worst kept secret at The Pewter Plank, I am not sold on the Buccaneers running back corps led by Doug Martin and his three game suspension still on tap. I’ve lost faith in Martin to perform the way I know he can – as he’s proved as recently as 2015 – due to the three seasons we’ve seen cut short by injury as well as the off-field concerns with the drug suspension.

That being said, that doesn’t mean I’m rooting against him. I’ve said time and time again, cheering against a player on the Bucs is completely stupid. In essence, by cheering against a player for personal reasons, you’re rooting against the team as a whole. Whether that’s to fit your own narrative or simply for a “told you so” moment, it goes against the greater good.

More from Bucs News

In all honesty, I want to be flooded with emails and tweets telling me what an idiot I was for ever doubting him.

We asked Derek Fournier of What The Buc to join us because he is, indeed, a Doug Martin guy – and someone whose opinion we respect greatly.

Outside of Martin, we discuss changes along the offensive line, Hard Knocks, and we ask Derek to make the first official nomination for The Pewter Plank’s Buccaneers Hall of Fame.

Be sure you are subscribing on iTunes, Podcast Addict, and Google Music. And please, send us your nominations for our inaugural class to be entered into The Pewter Plank’s Buccaneers Hall of Fame – player, coach, front office, all things Bucs. All players are available for nomination and current Pro Football Hall of Fame or Buccaneers Ring of Honor status have no bearing in our inaugural class.

Email those nominations to walkingtheplankpodcast@gmail.com and we will read it on the next episode.
