Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans was given a rating of 90 in Madden NFL 2018.

Gamers and Buccaneers fans get to unite once again. How often have we talked about the fact that the team hasn’t gotten national respect, despite the improvements? This has been especially true about wide receiver Mike Evans. We have talked about it on the pages of this website before. Despite the consistently solid play, he just doesn’t seem to get the attention that the other big names around the league get.

Don’t look now, however, as that may be starting to change. At least in the video gaming world it is starting.

In the weeks leading up to the release of Madden NFL 18, the game drops the player ratings to raise the level of excitement for the game. It starts out with the top players by position until eventually we can view the ratings of entire teams. Players can start planning who they are going to use before the game is even released.

Recently, the rookie ratings came out, and O.J. Howard was the second highest rated rookie in the league, to the delight of Bucs fans. Now the top five wide receivers have been released. The top five are without a Bucs name, but if you look down at the honorable mention section, they review all of the other receivers that scored a 90 or better for an overall rating. Mike Evans fit that category, putting his name right next to Larry Fitzgerald in the final section.

Now of course, as the article points out, the wide receiver group in the NFL is deep. It’s a passing league, so the cream of the crop is going to be at the wide receiver position. But the group that made the 90 or better club is small. To see Mike Evans with the likes of Fitzgerald and others shows that the video game creators appreciate his talent.
