Despite the Buccaneers’ red zone woes in preseason, the offense will be just fine come real football.

Take a deep breath, Buccaneers fans. Relax. There is no need to panic about the offense.

Bucs fans seem to be ready to jump off a bridge because Jameis Winston has failed to score a touchdown through three preseason games.

I repeat: take a deep breath.

There are plenty of teams where their starting quarterback hasn’t scored a touchdown. Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees, Eli Manning, and Andy Dalton. Do you see anyone in their fan base in a panic? No. Why? Because in preseason you have nothing but vanilla offenses without game planning.

Yes, the Bucs lost to the Browns in what was supposed a dress rehearsal. It’s not much of a dress rehearsal when fifteen players don’t dress including half the offensive line, the top receivers, the top cornerback, the middle linebacker, and a five time Pro Bowl defensive tackle.

Think about the most beautiful deep pass we’ve ever seen that fell right out of Evans’ hands that was a sure touchdown. Think about a fade pass to Evans in game one that should’ve been pass interference. This offense is going to be just fine.

Dirk Koetter isn’t thrilled about the red zone, but he also isn’t panicing yet either;

"“If it were just one thing, we could just fix it in a couple seconds. But again tonight, we had the turnover on third down and then we had two penalties that we got to the edge of the red zone. I don’t know exactly where they came, but two while we were down there and it bumped us back on those penalties. I’m sure it’s going to be a story for now. They start counting here pretty quick.”"

Yes, there is a possibility some of these problems creep up in the regular season, but for a team that has moved the ball with ease when they are at full strength, the red zone shouldn’t be much of a problem once they are game planning and no longer hiding Chris Godwin or O.J. Howard anymore.
