The Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the 0-3 New York Giants. Who will be this week’s three players to start, sit and be a sleeper pick as the Bucs return home to Raymond James Stadium.
START
Every dog has his day and Jacquizz Rodgers’ day could be this Sunday for the Buccaneers.
We’ve all done it. A player goes off for a big day in fantasy and we rush to the waiver wire and pick up said player and immediately insert him into our lineup. Only to have said player lay a fantasy egg for the rest of the year. This weeks player in that scenario is Jacquizz Rodgers.
Rodgers fantasy outlook couldn’t be better going into Sundays game. The Giants defense is dead last in the league against the run, giving up just over 153 yards per game. The Buccaneers are coming off a game where they only ran the ball eight times for 22 yards and are looking to bring back the balance to their offense.
Tack on the fact that New York has three line backers and a defensive end on their injury report. Rodgers and the Bucs offensive line could be facing a very depleted Giants front seven that is already last in the league.
Box Score: 106 yards rushing and 2 receptions for 22 yards with 1 touchdown
SIT
With the offensive game plan looking towards the running game early and often, Winston might not get the chance to put up eye popping fantasy numbers.

When a team gets down big or get into a shoot out that is when your fantasy QB shines. Besides the assumed heavy reliance on the run game this week, New York is second to last in points scored. That even takes into account the 24 point explosion they had last week against the Eagles in the forth quarter.
Look for the Giants to struggle to score consistently. In turn the Bucs won’t have to abandon the running game because they will be either leading or down by just one score. Thus this won’t give Winston the opportunities to throw the ball 40 time and rack up QB1 fantasy numbers.
Box Score: 18-26 for 254 yards and 1 TD
SLEEPER
Wow, if this run the ball all game theory doesn’t come to fruition I’m going to look really dumb.
Barber saw nary a carry in the Buccaneers second game against the Vikings. Something I believe the Bucs coaching staff tends to correct. If I’m right about the heavy focus on the run game this Sunday we could see Barber as soon as the second offensive series. My thinking is that the team plans to run the ball a lot the entire game and wanting Jacquizz Rodgers to be fresh as possible in the fourth quarter, Barber will spell him early and often.
I also believe that giving Charles Sims the ball when the offense is running between the tackles has finally come to an end. This is the game where Peyton Barber is used in the manner the Bucs have kept telling us he would be. Short yardage and goal line.
This is more of a flier than a sleeper so be warned, but if you are in desperate need of a RB3. Peyton Barber is your guy this week.
Box Score: 62 yards on 12 carries and 1 touchdown
