So I get to be the Buccaneers general manager for one day.

What would I do to improve the team?

Short answer. Nothing. Let me explain why.

Would I like to improve the pass rush? Of course I would, but NFL teams aren’t in the habit of trading Pro Bowler caliber edge rushers.

More from The Pewter Plank

Would I like to acquire another shutdown corner? Yes again, but the same logic applies as to my reasoning for not going out and getting a pass rushing defensive end.

Teams aren’t going to let these type of players go and if they were agreeable to listening to an offer the price would be to high for me. I think Jason Licht and his staff are one of the best in the business when it comes to the draft and I don’t feel comfortable taking away next years 1st round pick, at minimum, to bolster the pass rush or upgrade the corner back position.

So let’s move on.

Kicker? Yeah of course but that is already being addressed.

Running back? Safety? Offensive line?

Doug Martin, T.J. Ward / Justin Evans, doesn’t need an upgrade.

Tight end? Nope they’re good. Punter? Not a chance. QB? Merely suggesting this is laughable. Wide receiver? The Bucs already have a 4th WR the can’t get on the field and want to!

So what does that leave? Linebacker. Tampa may have the deepest/best corps in the NFL.

The only thing I would do as the general manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for one day is.

Give myself press credentials for life.

Jason Licht has the Bucs in a good spot roster wise. Yes I would love to upgrade the edge and corner position, but I’m not willing to mortgage the teams future to do it.

Disagree? Feel free to fire off any comments or ideas below. Honestly I’d love to hear ’em.
