Buccaneers at Cardinals: Preview, broadcast info for Week 6
By Bailey Adams
The Buccaneers (2-2) return to Arizona on Sunday afternoon, looking to make up for last year’s blowout loss out west. Here, we preview the 4:05 p.m. matchup with the Cardinals (2-3) and tell you where to watch and listen to it.
It’s been over a week since the Buccaneers last took the field. Since their Oct. 5 loss to the Patriots, Patrick Murray has replaced Nick Folk as the team’s kicker. All things considered, 2-2 is an okay place for the Bucs to be right now. There are some winnable games coming up over the next few weeks. Tampa Bay needs to take advantage, starting on Sunday in Arizona against the struggling Cardinals.
In week five, the Bucs didn’t get their offense going until late in the fourth quarter. Doug Martin returned and looked like his old self, but Jameis Winston took a while to start clicking. A big fourth quarter boosted his numbers, but he was pretty ineffective for most of the night. DeSean Jackson had his first 100-yard game as a Buc, thanks in large part to a 41-yard gain in the fourth. The defense looked solid in the loss, sacking Tom Brady three times and forcing him to turn the ball over twice. The difference was Folk, who missed from 56, 49 and 31. Had he just made the 31-yarder, Tampa Bay would’ve been set up for a potential game-winner at the end of the game.
The Cardinals are still looking for consistency through five games this season. They have gone loss, win, loss, win, loss in the first five weeks. The defense is uncharacteristically inconsistent, while Carson Palmer and the offense aren’t exactly setting the world on fire either. Losing David Johnson for an extended period of time was a big hit. As a result, Arizona has the NFL’s worst run game. In hopes of changing that, the team traded for Adrian Peterson this past week. He had less than a week to get accustomed to the playbook, but still should get a good number of looks on Sunday.

Injury-wise, the Bucs are getting a little healthier. Kwon Alexander (hamstring), Keith Tandy (hip) and Josh Robinson (concussion) are out. However, the team is getting Lavonte David (ankle) and T.J. Ward (hip) back. Robert Ayers (back) and Ali Marpet (illness) are listed as questionable, but head coach Dirk Koetter said they will play. The Cardinals have four defensive players listed as questionable, including Patrick Peterson and Karlos Dansby.
The last time these two teams met, it was a forgettable day for the Bucs. In week two of the 2016 season, Tampa Bay fell 40-7 in Arizona. Winston threw four interceptions, the defense allowed 24 points in the second quarter and nothing really went right. The Cardinals lead the all-time regular season series 10-9, with a 5-3 advantage at home. They are looking for a third straight win against the Bucs.
