NFL Hard Count: Issue #1 – Thursday games and Terry Glenn passes
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Like an NFL quarterback sometimes comes out confused by what occurs when they come to the line, I was literally stumped watching the ending of the New York Giants victory of the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11.
I had been listening to the Locked on Chiefs podcast last week because it’s successful, and I wanted to take some notes from two guys who have built a good show.
So when Ryan Tracy and Chris Clark cracked some small jokes about the Chiefs upcoming contest against the Giants, I couldn’t help but laugh along with them. I mean, the Giants have been one of the biggest let downs in the NFL, and were on their way there before Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall went down with injuries.

This is a team destined to pick in the Top-5 of the 2018 NFL Draft, and really the only thing left to decide is whether or not their next coach has a new rookie quarterback to mold or gets Eli Manning for another year.
Then Sunday happened. Specifically, a 12-9 overtime win by those pitiful Giants happened. I was stunned. Worse, I was duped.
I had bought in hook, line, and sinker. Alex Smith was my quarterback in a $20 buy in daily fantasy game. Kareem Hunt was my running back….in the same game! Yep, I doubled up. Figured I’d get two or three touchdown throws by Smith, and then plenty of garbage time yards and perhaps another score or two from Hunt.
Wow.
I haven’t been able to catch the most recent Locked on Chiefs episodes yet, but definitely have them downloaded and ready to go. It probably won’t be pretty.
At one point, I had all but counted Kansas City in as one of a few teams to challenge the Patriots’ hold on the AFC this season. Now? Well, they’re 6-4 and still have a two game lead in the AFC West, but man the lead feels a lot smaller, doesn’t it?
