It is no secret that the Buccaneers will be addressing the defensive end position in this year’s upcoming draft, so let’s compare the top two prospects.

Since General Manager Jason Licht took over for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014 he has been able to bring in some exceptional talent through the draft.

More from The Pewter Plank

Licht has hit home runs in both the 2015 and 2017 drafts. In 2015 he brought in the likes of Jameis Winston, Donovan Smith, Ali Marpet, and Kwon Alexander. As for 2017 Licht was able to snag O.J. Howard, Justin Evans, Chris Godwin and Kendell Beckwith.

If you are gonna build a team right, the draft is where you start… and has Licht done a damn fine job of that.

Now although Licht has had some very impressive classes and selections, it is well known how much he has forgotten about the defensive line. In those four years as general manager Licht has addressed the defensive line once, with the selection of the injury plagued Noah Spence.

Did Licht realize that Spence would have a nagging injury that may be the demise of his career? No, but there are teams around the league that make a consistent effort to address the defensive trenches in each draft class.

Now with all of this being said, the Bucs currently sit at 7th overall in this year’s upcoming draft. It is likely that the Bucs will address the edge pressure issue in the first round, so let’s take a look at the top two prospects – Arden Key and Bradley Chubb.

To make this alphabetical we will talk about Key first.
