3. He Comes From an Athletic Family

A lot of times, NFL draft picks have athleticism that runs in their family. Whether it’s a parent, sibling, cousin, aunt or uncle, many professionals have someone that made it professionally or at least got to the collegiate level. Jack Cichy has more than one of those. His father, Steve, played football at Notre Dame before moving on to the Canadian Football League. At Notre Dame, he played with Joe Montana and Mike Golic.

It wasn’t only Steve that had athletic success, though. Jack’s mother, Lisa, played basketball at Marquette. Then, Jack’s sister, Tessa, played basketball at Wisconsin. She played in 109 games and started 48 over four years with the Badgers.

That’s a pretty impressive family, isn’t it? Success runs in Jack’s family, which hopefully bodes well for his NFL future. His NFL.com draft profile mentions that his “instincts are a big plus, allowing him to play ahead of the play,” his “reaction time is instant” and he has “good recognition of play-action and trick plays.” Those traits go along with his characterization as a team leader. The Bucs took a risk on him, but it isn’t hard to picture the risk paying off.
